Lakeland ,FL :29-year-old man and his female Passenger killed after Vehicle Crash on Saturday Morning ,September 5th 2015

Two Lakeland residents were killed early this morning in a crash that led to the arrest of another driver on DUI manslaughter charges, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Florida Highway Patrol hasn't yet released the names of the Lakeland residents, a 29-year-old man who was driving, and the female passenger, 37, pending notification of their relatives. The FHP is working with Wisconsin state police to locate her family, Sgt. Steve Gaskins said.

Their 2006 Toyota Corolla struck a power pole off of State Road 39 in Hillsborough County after being in a head-on collision with another vehicle, which had veered into their lane after being rear-ended.

David Thomas Flanagan of Zephyrhills, 47, the driver of the vehicle FHP said caused a rear-end accident, leading to the subsequent fatal crash, was arrested. Flanagan, who had been taken to Florida Hospital Zephryhills with minor injuries, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence manslaughter and driving while his license was suspended involving a death, according to the accident report. Driving with a suspended license when a death or serious injury occurs is a specific charge, Gaskins said.

Amy Kay Dudeck, 32, of Plant City, the driver whose car was hit in the rear by the 2008 Hyundai Sonata driven by Flanagan, had minor injuries, as did her passengers Stanley John Dudeck, 27, and Sophia Dudeck, 1, both also of Plant City, the FHP said. They were taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.
