Miami, FL : 1 killed, 4 injured in Miami crash involving pickup truck and a BMW on Monday, March 20th 2017

At least one person was killed and four people injured in a violent crash early Monday in a downtown Miami intersection.

A passenger in a BMW SUV died after it crashed with a pickup truck around 1 a.m. at Northwest Third Avenue and Fifth Street. The collision flipped the pickup truck and trapped four other passengers inside the BMW, according to Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll.

Miami Fire Rescue’s Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue team got the four passengers out with extrication tools. All were sent to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Despite the truck’s tumble, the driver was treated at the crash scene. The BMW’s driver later was taken to Jackson for evaluation.

The intersection reopened for the morning rush hour. The crash remains under investigation.
