Everett, WA : Whatcom County woman is dead after a car hit her south of Everett on Monday, January 26, 2015

A Ferndale woman has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver Monday near Everett.

The King County Medical Examiner identified the woman as Diana E. Martinka, 53.

She died at a Seattle hospital Monday. Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives are investigating.

The collision was reported at 7:40 p.m. in the 200 block of 128th Street SW, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. The victim was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk at the time.

Investigators are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

The car was believed to have been driven by a man, Ireton said. It lost a side mirror in the crash and likely has front-end damage.
