Maryville,TN : Simulated crash to take place tonight on Pellissippi Parkway on October, Thursday 26th 2017
The Blount County Local Emergency Planning Committee is teaming up with law enforcement, fire and rescue agencies across the county to stage a multi-vehicle crash for a hazardous materials exercise from 6-8 p.m. Thursday on Pellissippi Parkway, heading toward East Broadway Avenue.
The drill scenario will consist of a wrecked F-250 Ford farm truck on the left side of the Pellissippi Parkway overpass and a trailer with a 1,500-gallon tank situated 100 feet below near the pedestrian greenway between the Clayton Homes headquarters and Clayton-Bradley Academy.
Darren Stinnett, Alcoa Fire Department’s deputy chief, said the aim is to practice proper responses to emergency situations and boost communication between the different agencies.
“These hazardous materials are traveling the roadways every day and transportation is always the weakest link in the safety of these products,” he said in a press release.
