Athens, TN: At least 1 dead after McMinn County vehicle fire on I-75N on Wednesday, July 29th 2015

Tennessee Highway Patrol said when they arrived at an accident on Interstate 75 near Athens they found a vehicle on fire with the driver still inside.Tennessee Highway Patrol said northbound lanes of the interstate were shut down after the fire caught part of the surrounding grass on fire in the median. Tennessee Department of Transportation said the crash was reported at 1:20 p.m. near mile marker 48. The crash was cleared around 3:30 p.m., but there may still be delays in the area. Southbound traffic is not affected.Jennifer C. Donnals with the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security confirms at least one person involved in the crash is dead. No other information is available at this time.
