Austin, TX : A 75-year-old Wausau man died on May, Wednesday, 17th 2017
A 75-year-old Wausau man died when the car he was riding in turned in front of a sports utility vehicle at Brokaw Corners Bar and Grill, according to the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.
The crash that killed Ernest Paul Elliott happened about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday on County Highway W as the northbound car, driven by a 63-year-old Merrill man, turned into the bar just south of County Highway WW as the SUV, driven by an 18-year-old Merrill man, traveled southbound, the sheriff's department said in a nine-page report released Thursday.
A 62-year-old Merrill woman who was also in the car, a 2005 Fort Mustang GT that rolled onto its side, was seriously hurt as were the two drivers, the report said.
Elliott was riding in the front passenger seat of the Mustang.
A factor in the crash was the SUV exceeding the speed limit, the crash report said.
Some heavy rain and storms moved through the Wausau area Wednesday afternoon but the report gave no indication the weather played a role in the tragedy.
