Dane County, WI : Mazomanie woman killed in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 14 at Rocky Dell Road on Thursday, January 7, 2016

A woman killed in a head-on crash in the Town of Cross Plains was identified by the Dane County medical examiner's office Friday as Leah R. Harris, 30, of Mazomanie.

The crash was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 14 at Rocky Dell Road, according to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the release, the car Harris was driving was westbound on the highway when she crossed the centerline and struck an SUV driven by a 33-year-old Black Earth woman.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the SUV and several passengers in that vehicle were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, according to the release.

The crash remained under investigation.
