1 dead, 4 injured in Rocklin crash in Roseville California
A Vacaville man was killed Sunday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Rocklin.
The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m., touched off by a collision between two vehicles on eastbound
I-80, just east of the Rocklin Road exit.
A California Highway Patrol report said that a pickup involved in the initial collision flipped and hopped the center median, crashing into a westbound Honda Civic and killing the driver of the car instantly.
The Honda driver killed in the crash was identified as Billy Tyler, 80, of Vacaville. A passenger, Lois Tyler, 75, of Vacaville, was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries.
Auburn resident Gary Gramm, 68, was driving a Mercedes-Benz involved in the initial collision. He received moderate injuries. A passenger, Karen Gramm, 65, suffered major injuries. Both were taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
Officer David Martinez reported that the Mercedes turned over at least once before coming to rest in an eastbound lane.
The driver of the pickup that crossed over the median – 19-year-old Brigit Udell of Rocklin – was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with major injuries.
