PALM HARBOR, FL : Spring Hill motorcyclist, 21, killed in Palm Harbor crash on Thursday, March 23rd 2017

A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon when another car turned in front of him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.The crash occurred around 5 p.m. as motorcyclist Devon Tyler Porrata, of Spring Hill, was riding southbound in the outside lane on U.S. 19 approaching Nebraska Avenue, according to FHP.

He crashed into 2006 Honda Civic driven by Arianna A. Abbate-Perks, 22, as she attempted to turn into a shopping plaza, troopers said.

Both vehicles overturned before coming to rest in the parking lot, troopers said.

Porrata died at the scene, troopers said. Abbate-Perks was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Troopers said they are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
