Denver, CO : Two critical, three others hospitalized in car crash south of Water World on Sunday September 4 2016

A three-vehicle crash involving high speed sent two men to the hospital Sunday afternoon with life-threatening injuries and forced the closure of Pecos Street south of Water World.

At least three other victims were transported to Denver Health medical center, and others may seek treatment on their own, Federal Heights Police Chief Karl Wilmes said.

The two men were in a white Acura that was moving east on 84th Avenue. The Acura turned north on Pecos and crossed into southbound traffic, colliding head-on with an Isuzu and then with a Honda Pilot, Wilmes said. Police received a call around 5:25 p.m. notifying them of the crash.

The State Patrol was helping to divert traffic as police investigated.

In addition to speed, “alcohol may have been a contributing factor,” Wilmes said.

No identifications had been made, he said. “Because of the seriousness of the injuries, we haven’t been able to determine that.”
