Castro Valley, CA : One dead after car slams into tree on Lake Chabot Road on Thursday morning, October 30, 2014

A single-vehicle car crash left one person dead Thursday morning after a vehicle drove into a tree, the California Highway Patrol said. Officers responded at 11:43 a.m. to Lake Chabot Road at Castro Valley Boulevard for a report that a car had crashed into a tree and a person was still inside, Officer Ron Simmons said. Details about what caused the fatal accident were under investigation. As of 1:30 p.m. the north and southbound lanes of Lake Chabot Road from Castro Valley Boulevard to Fairmont Road were closed.
