New York ,NY : 17-year-old pedestrian hospitalized in critical condition after Crash while truck trying to avoid a crash hit a teenager crossing a Bronx street on Friday ,March 13th 2015

Police say a truck trying to avoid a crash hit a teenager crossing a Bronx street, gravely injuring the teenager before the truck and a car jumped a curb.

The teenager is hospitalized in critical condition after the wreck around 8:30 a.m. Friday. Television news photos show the car and U-Haul truck both came to rest on the sidewalk on Southern Boulevard in the Longwood area, with the car headed straight into a beauty salon and the truck angled behind the car.

Police say the U-Haul's driver swerved to try to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of the truck as the 17-year-old pedestrian tried to cross the street.

Firefighters say one other person suffered minor injuries. It's not immediately clear whether that was one of the drivers.
