One person killed in motorized bicycle crash in Punta Gorda

A Port Charlotte man riding a motorized bicycle was killed in an early morning crash Tuesday on U.S. 41 at St. Pierre Road.According to Florida Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Angel Hoyt was riding a motorized Huffy bicycle northbound on U.S. 41 a little north of Tucker's Grade just after 6am. Troopers say he attempted to turn left onto St. Pierre Road but crashed into the left side of a southbound Ford truck.Hoyt was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP says he was not wearing a helmet and the bike had no lights.Florida Highway Patrol reported roadblock for at least a few hours on U.S. 41 in the southbound lanes.
