Waltham, MA : Several people injured in 20-car pileup on I-95 in Boston on Sunday, February 15, 2015
State police say there has been a crash involving about 20 vehicles on southbound Interstate 95 west of Boston that is causing a major traffic tie-up.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. Sunday near exit 27 in Waltham.
State police said its initial reports are that several people have minor injuries.
The highway was temporarily closed, but state police said the left travel lane was reopened at around 4 p.m.
People were advised to avoid the area, and traffic also was diverted at Trapelo Road as emergency crews work to help the injured and clear debris.
Police said there was a report that a snow squall may have contributed to the crash. The road had been plowed but authorities had warned of blowing snow.
