Nashville, TN : Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-24 in south Nashville on Wednesday, March 16, 2016

A man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on Interstate 24 West in south Nashville.

The wreck happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday near Haywood Lane.

Police said the driver, Labrone D. Williams, was going over 100 mph when a car merged into his lane. Williams couldn't stop in time and veered into a retaining wall.

Williams was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police said the crash was caused by excessive speed. They have not been able to locate the driver of the other vehicle involved.
