Hampden County, MA : Holyoke special education teacher dies in car crash on Monday morning, January 4, 2016
A beloved longtime teacher with Holyoke's public schools has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash earlier this week.
Authorities say 53-year-old Anne Cullen was on her way to work at the high school Monday morning when she was involved in a head-on crash. She later died at the hospital.
School officials say Cullen was a special education teacher in the system for 30 years.
Holyoke High School acting Principal Stephen Sullivan said Cullen's death is a great loss for the school community, but especially for her students.
Grief counselors are being made available all week.
The other driver, a 75-year-old Southampton man, was also taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.
The crash remains under investigation.
