Five people, including three children under the age of 4, were injured Monday when the car they were in struck a semitractor trailer in a construction zone on northbound U.S. Highway 41/45 in Germantown, police said.
The crash was reported shortly before 7 p.m. south of Maple Road when the car drifted to the left and struck the semi in the center lane, according to a news release from the Germantown Police Department.
The car then struck the median barrier before crossing three lanes of traffic and striking a concrete barrier adjacent to the driving lane, according to the release.
A woman from Milwaukee who was driving the car and her passengers, a West Bend woman and her three children, were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening and the driver of the semi was not injured, according to the release.
No child restraint equipment was found in the car, police said.
