Little Rock, AR : Rose Bud man killed in crash on Arkansas Highway 36 on Thursday, 6th September 2018

The driver of a vehicle attempting to pass other vehicles on Arkansas Highway 36 near Joy died Thursday in a head-on collision, according to the Arkansas State Police.

David Wayne Chennault Jr., 40, of Rose Bud was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 36 a mile west of Joy when he collided with an eastbound 2008 Dodge Ram driven by Dale W. Roberts, 68, of Heber Springs at 11:45 a.m. Cpl. Tony H. Bowman wrote in the fatality report that Chennault was "passing several vehicles" at the time.

Roberts was taken to Unity Health-White County Medical Center, but no details of his condition were available Thursday evening. Chennault's body was taken to Powell Funeral Home in Searcy.

It was cloudy and rainy at the time of the accident and the road was wet, Bowman wrote.
