Northgate , WA : Motorcyclist critically injured in crash on after after colliding with a car I-5 on Monday ,May 4th 2015

A motorcyclist is in critical condition Monday after colliding with a car on Interstate 5 near Northgate, officials said.

Police and medics responded to the scene, northbound I-5 at NE 92nd Street, at about 11:25 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a 45-year-old man, was found at the crash scene with severe injuries. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation found that the motorcyclist was heading north and was unable to stop in time for slowing traffic and slammed into the vehicle in front of him.

Three lanes were closed during the cleanup and investigation, creating a long backup.
