New Bloomfield, MO : Woman arrested for child endangerment following car crash on Old Highway 54, just south of New Bloomfield on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2015

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers have arrested one woman for endangering the welfare of a child and driving while impaired, following a traffic crash Tuesday morning.

Corporal John Cluver of the Highway Patrol says units responded to reports of a vehicle striking a tree.

It happened just after 10 a.m. on Old Highway 54, just south of New Bloomfield.

Upon investigation, Cluver says it appeared that the northbound vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, and struck a mailbox.

The vehicle returned to the road, crossed again, and struck the tree.

A child was in the vehicle, but was unharmed. The child has been placed in the custody of a grandparent.

The driver has been placed under arrest for driving while impaired.

Cluver says test results will be done later to determine the cause of that impairment.
