ROANOKE, VA : Car chase on Peters Creek Road leads to crash on Sunday, 21st January 2024

The driver of a stolen vehicle crashed into an electrical pole after a high-speed chase between Peters Creek Road and Melrose Avenue northbound, according to Roanoke Police.

Police say the vehicle was stolen from a hotel on Ordway Drive. Police saw it Sunday morning and attempted to make a traffic stop.

At 9:41 a.m., police say, the driver began traveling at extreme speeds down Peters Creek Road, leading police to chase him. The chase lasted for 1 minute and 50 seconds before the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a telephone pole in front of the Roanoke-Salem Business Center, according to police. There was nobody else in the car.

RPD said the vehicle was “fully engulfed” in flames when Roanoke Fire-EMS arrived.
