Neola, IA : 54-year-old Roger Schneckloth injured after veering off road near Neola on Thursday morning, February 12, 2015
A 54-year-old western Iowa man was critically injured Thursday morning when his pickup veered off a roadway and struck a bridge support just outside Neola in Pottawattamie County.
The accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on the east edge of Neola, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office said.
A witness told deputies that the pickup, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Roger Schneckloth of Neola, was northbound on Railroad Highway when it left the roadway and entered the east ditch before hitting the bridge support.
The Sheriff’s Office said Schneckloth had to be cut free from the pickup by rescue squad units from Neola and Minden.
Schneckloth, who was alone in the truck, was taken by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Deputies said road conditions were normal at the time of the accident.
