Knoxville police identified the woman killed in a Jan. 2 crash on Interstate 40.
Police said a tractor-trailer hit Joy Goforth's car about 5:30 p.m. Friday as she was trying to change lanes near the Hall of Fame Drive exit. Goforth's car then crashed into the median and flipped several times. Officials said the 42-year-old woman wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and the crash threw her from the car.
Authorities pronounced Goforth of Powell dead at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The tractor-trailer was driven by Daniel Johnstone, 26, of Watertown, N.Y. Johnstone was not injured in the crash, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
