Caddo Parish, LA : Three people died in a wreck in North Caddo on Saturday night, December 12, 2015
The Caddo Sheriff's Office has released the identities of 3 people who died in a wreck Saturday night.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office was notified about 10:30 p.m. that a Toyota Corolla, driven by 34-year-old Ronald Elton Wheatley, was traveling south in a northbound lane of Interstate 49 just north of Louisiana Highway 169 when it collided head-on with Kia Spectra, driven by 54-year-old Charles Michael Creel.
The drivers of both vehicles and a passenger in the Kia, 18-year-old Caleb Michael Creel, died at the scene. Another passenger in the Kia, 53-year-old Linda Jean Creel, was taken to University Health hospital.
An 18-wheeler also struck one of the vehicles and ran off the road; the truck driver was not injured.
Caddo 911 dispatch records show 11 sheriff's units responded to a report at 10:37 p.m. of careless and reckless driving on I-49 in the vicinity of Self Road. Five minutes later, Caddo Fire District 7 responded to an EMS event at I-49 at Hwy. 169.
Authorities say they do believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Lt. Michael Gray said an open container was found in Wheatley's vehicle.
The wreck remains under investigation.
