Murfreesboro, TN : Wilson Elementary bus involved in crash on Central Valley Road near Highway 231 on Wednesday morning, Nov 18, 2015

A Rutherford County Schools bus driver and two students were taken to the hospital to be checked for injuries this morning after a crash on Central Valley Road near Lebanon Pike.

Bus No. 50 driven by Melissa Morgan, which serves Wilson Elementary School, had about 70 students on board when the wreck occurred, according to the school system.

The driver said an SUV was traveling toward her in the bus's lane and forced her to swerve to avoid a head-on collision, but the bus still sideswiped the other vehicle, Rutherford County Schools spokesman James Evans said.

After the crash, the driver said her back hurt, according to Evans. No students reported any injuries initially, but two children reported their heads were hurting when asked later, Evans said.

Ambulance personnel checked them at the scene and transported them to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Tennessee Highway Patrol worked the wreck, and Rutherford County Schools did not have a copy of the report this morning. Nor did it have information about the SUV driver.
