Merrimack, N.H : Several vehicles involved in crash on Everett Turnpike on Monday afternoon, August 8, 2016
A serious crash Monday afternoon affected both sides of the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack.
State police said the crash was reported just after 2 p.m.
Investigation revealed that Christopher Milona, 19, of Natick, Massachusetts, was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra when he lost control of his car and struck a 2016 Kia Sedona, driven by Diane Ferreira, 39, of Fall River, Massachusetts.
The collision forced both cars into the guardrail. The Kia got stuck on the guardrail, and the Nissan went through the guardrail and onto the northbound side.
Initial reports said that as many as five vehicles were involved in the crash near Exit 12, but police later said only two cars were involved in the crash.
Milona was not injured. He was arrested at the scene and is being charged with reckless driving.
Ferreira and her passengers were taken to Elliot Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They were treated and released.
The left lanes of the turnpike on both sides were closed, but they were back open by rush hour.
