Hopkins County, TX : Michael Wayne Evans, 32, died after two-car crash on Highway 11 at Farm-to-Market 275 on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2015
An East Texas man was killed after his car collided head-on with another vehicle early Tuesday morning.
Trooper Sylvia Jennings with the Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred around 5:50 a.m. on Highway 11 at Farm-to-Market 275, between Sulphur Springs and Commerce.
According to a preliminary crash report, Michael Wayne Evans, 32, of Winnsboro, was driving west on Highway 11, when he crossed the center line and into oncoming traffic. The other driver, identified as Jose Manuel Flores, 39, of Commerce, swerved to avoid Evans, but the two cars collided head-on.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Murray/Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs. Flores was taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, but was stable as of Tuesday at 2 p.m.
According to the preliminary crash report, Evans was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
