Lebanon man dies in car accident near Monmouth

A 68-year-old Lebanon man was killed this morning in a crash on Oregon 99W near Monmouth, Oregon State Police reported.Lt.Gregg Hastings, an OSP spokesman, said Robert Henry Primasing, 68, drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Old Fort Road and Oregon 99W just south of Monmouth about 11 a.m. and was struck by an oncoming Volkswagen, shutting down traffic.Primasing was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife, Shirley Primasing, 66, was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Corvallis with serious injuries.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Megan Eichler, 18, and passenger Hannah Zimbrick, 18, both from Willamina, were treated for minor injuries at Salem Hospital and released this afternoon.Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, Hastings said.The northbound lane opened about 1 p.m. and ODOT was assisting with traffic control.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Polk County Fire District also responded.
