Glendora, CA : Overturned big rig carrying beer and kegs lost control and crashed into an embankment on the southbound 57 Freeway on Wednesday morning September 10th 2014
A big rig hauling beer spilled its cargo after the truck driver lost control, ran off the southbound 57 Freeway and through the Auto Centre Drive onramp Tuesday.
The solo crash took place shortly after 8 a.m. on the southbound 57 Freeway, south of Auto Centre Drive.
California Highway Patrol Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said a tractor trailer was traveling around 55 mph when for reasons yet to be determined, it veered to the right. The big rig went through the onramp, collided with the guard rail and went down the embankment, he said.
Jimenez said the truck also hit the wall of a storage facility which is at the base of the embankment.
The trailer overturned onto its right side and spilled the kegs and boxes of Lagunitas it was carrying. The CHP didn’t know how much beer was in the trailer.
“He lost his cargo,” CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos said.
The driver, a 41-year-old Fresno man, wasn’t hurt,
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. The cause of the crash doesn’t appear to be alcohol-related, Jimenez said.
The Auto Centre Drive onramp reopened early Wednesday afternoon.
The CHP, Los Angeles County firefighters, Caltrans and Glendora Police responded to the scene.
