Spring Valley, CA : Teen flees crash in Spring Valley, leaves his girlfriend trapped on Friday afternoon, January 2, 2015

An injured motorist was temporarily trapped inside a vehicle that crashed into a Spring Valley home Friday afternoon and her boyfriend, the driver, fled on foot.

The vehicle crashed into a house in the 9900 block of Estrella Drive around 2:15 p.m., not long after nearby residents had been trying to get the vehicle to slow down.

"According to witnesses they were going way too fast for the road," said California Highway Patrol officer Kevin Pearlstein. "They were unable to negotiate the right-hand curve in the road. They exited the roadway and basically caught air off kind of a jump -- an elevated grass area. They went through some trees and landed up against a house."

The driver, a 16-year-old male, was able to get out and he then took off and disappeared. However, he returned to the crash site about 30 to 40 minutes later.

Meanwhile, firefighters worked to rescue his girlfriend (age unknown), who was trapped inside the vehicle. It took them about 25 minutes to free her from the wreckage.

Both ended up with minor injuries.
