Ennis, Tx : Car crash south of Ennis sends eight to hospitals on August 2nd 2014.
The Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) was still on scene of a four vehicle crash on highway 287 south of Ennis Saturday night.
Eight of twelve people in the vehicles were transported to area hospitals. One was taken by medical helicopter. Trooper Ashlin O'Connell says the severity of injuries to those involved is not known at this time.
The crash happened at mile marker 38, South of Ennis and near Cameron. According to trooper O'Connell, the drivers of two cars headling north on 87 were slowing down to make a left turn.
A third vehicle crashed into the back of those cars causing one to spin out and into an oncoming southbound vehicle. The first call about the crash came in about 5:40pm Saturday.
Both lanes of traffic were closed after the crash and traffic backed up for miles. Within a few hours one lane reopened and traffic slowly cleared. Both lanes were originally scheduled to reopen around 11pm.
