Deer field Beach , Fl : Seven people Were injured after Wrongway Crash near Interstate 95 on Friday , December 26th 2014
Seven people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Friday night crash involving seven vehicles closed the southbound lanes of I-95 at Hillsboro Boulevard.
According to the FHP, a white Ford Escape was traveling north in the southbound lanes and collided with a van. The driver of the van took evasive action by changing lanes and sideswiped a tractor-trailer.
A secondary collision involving four vehicles occurred to the north of the initial crash.
Traffic was backed up for several miles as authorities worked to clear the scene.
Southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for about four hours during the investigation.
All seven people were taken to North Broward Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Charges are pending against the wrong-way drive
