Urbana, IL : State Police on scene of Route 97 fatal crash on Saturday, 17th November 2018

A 60-year-old man from Tallula is dead after a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Illinois 97 just west of Springfield.

Illinois State Police said that a 2015 Hyundai Azera driven by a 36-year-old woman from Pleasant Plains was westbound at 8:16 a.m. just west of Lincoln Trail when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan head-on.

The driver of the Caravan was killed.

A 1-year-old girl was a passenger in the Azera, and a 60-year-old woman from Pleasant Plains was riding in the Caravan.

Police did not say if the Azera’s driver or the passengers were injured.

The crash is under investigation.
