Boca Raton, FL : Hit-and-run crash kills woman, 20, crossing road near FAU at the scene, 700 W. Glades Road on Monday, 10th December 2018

A 20-year-old former student at Florida Atlantic University was killed by a hit-and-run driver as she crossed the street Monday night near the Boca Raton school.

Asia McClave, of Lighthouse Point, died at the scene, 700 W. Glades Road, after the driver of a white or silver car, possibly a Hyundai, sped away about 7:30 p.m., police said.

“She was really an amazing young lady,” her mother, Maria Kline, said Tuesday. “She definitely didn’t think anything would ever happen to her. She was 20 and immortal.”

McClave was less than a month away from her 21st birthday and about six months into a new job with a gaming company. She was debating returning to school — she was just one semester away from earning a degree in economics -- or continuing on with her new career, her mother said.
