A 16-year-old babysitter pushing a stroller was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Port St. John, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Haley Johnson, of Titusville, was walking with her 19-year-old boyfriend and pushing a toddler in a stroller at Curtis Boulevard and Fay Boulevard around 8 p.m. when she was hit.
The toddler, 19-month-old Lilth Ellis, was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in serious condition while Johnson's boyfriend, Dale Lambert, was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The driver told officials that she never saw the pedestrians in the roadway.
This street is very dark. I wish it was a better illuminated street and wish there were sidewalks,” said local resident Jeff Beals.
