PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL : Walton man in serious condition after collision on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016

A Walton County man is in serious condition after driving the wrong way down U.S. 98 and colliding with oncoming traffic.

Paul Anthony Oalde, 51, of Freeport, was traveling westbound in a 2005 Nissan 350Z on Back Beach Road (U.S. 98) in the eastbound, inside lane when his vehicle collided with Ryan Fredrick Kirk, 30, of Panama City Beach, at about 11 p.m. Saturday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Kirk was traveling eastbound in a 2008 Ford F-150, FHP reported.The left front of Oalse's vehicle collided with the left front of Kirk's vehicle, sending Oalde's Nissan rotating counter clockwise and traveling back east before coming to a final rest facing southeast, straddling the eastbound, inside lane and the grass median of U.S. 98 west of the intersection with Gainous Road. Following impact with Oalde, Kirk rotated counter clockwise and overturned onto its roof coming to final rest facing West in the eastbound outside lane of US-98A west of the intersection of Gainous Road.

Alcohol was listed as a factor in the FHP accident report, and Oalde was listed in serious condition at Bay Medical Sacred Heart.

Kirk sustained minor injuries, the report said.
