Huntsville, TX : Mother, daughter killed in multiple-vehicle accident on I-45 on Monday afternoon, August 15, 2016

A mother and her daughter were killed in a multiple-car accident along the southbound lane of Interstate 45 on Monday afternoon.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a total of eight vehicles were involved in the collision, which took place around 2 p.m. at mile-marker 110 near the Sam Houston Statue and Visitor Center.

Identities of the two fatality victims are being withheld pending next of kin notification.

Texas DPS Sgt. Steven McNeil McNeil said the accident is still under investigation and that state troopers were trying to figure out what factors played a part in the collision late Monday afternoon.

“They are just trying to piece it together right now, and reconstruct the accident and figure out what happened,” McNeil said Monday.
