MONROE, CT : Serious Monroe crash knocks out power, injures two on Sunday, 30th October 2016
Two people suffered serious injuries and power was knocked out to a section of Purdy Hill Road after a a two-vehicle crash Sunday night.
One of the vehicles rolled over, and the other crashed into a utility pole in front of 350 Purdy Hill Road at 10:30 p.m., officials said.
“A woman and small child had to be helped out of one vehicle by first responders, but they were not mechanically trapped, (so) no extrication tools were needed,’’ said Kevin Catalano, the Monroe Fire Department spokesman.
Both were transported to a Bridgeport hospital by Monroe EMS, but their injuries did not appear life threatening, Catalano said.. Stepney and Monroe firefighters were on scene from 10:30 until midnight.
Employees from Eversource were on scene and worked to replace the utility poles overnight
