COLON TOWNSHIP, MI : 1 killed, 1 hurt in Colon Township crash on Sunday, 16th April 2023

A 67-year-old was killed in a morning crash in Colon Township.

Around 5:30 a.m., deputies with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office were sent to Colon Road just east of Bennett Road for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a westbound vehicle, driven by 67-year-old Willie Kosachuk of Coldwater, crossed the center line and hit an eastbound vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Thaison Washington of Colon.

Kosachuk died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

Washington was taken to the hospital. The sheriff’s office said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
