Raeford, N.C : Troy mom, infant die in log truck collision in Hoke County on Thursday evening, March 9, 2017
A Troy woman and her 6-month-old son died Thursday evening when the vehicle she was driving crashed into a log truck in Hoke County, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The wreck took place around 5:30 p.m. on N.C. 211, near Loblolly Loop and about two miles northwest of Raeford.
Ashley Elizabeth Suggs Reza, 24, of Troy was driving a van south on N.C. 211 towards Raeford when she crossed the center line, the report said, and collided with the log truck. The vehicles ran off the left hand side of the road and came to a rest against a utility pole. The truck landed partially on top of the van.
Suggs and her infant son, Weslie Monroe Reza, who was in a child safety seat, were both killed upon impact, the report said. The driver of the log truck was not injured.
The road was closed until 4:45 a.m. Friday, the patrol said.
