BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP, MI : I-94 semitrailer crashes into median in Buchanan Township on Friday, 25th January 2019

A driver of a semitrailer is OK after losing control on Interstate 94 in Buchanan Township.Traveling at speeds north of the speed limit, especially in these conditions, could be life threatening. Police say it could have been a lot worse.

"Road conditions are really icy. The semitruck was going a little bit too fast and couldn’t stop for the vehicle in front of him," Michigan State Police Officer Jerry McClearen said. "He lost control and went into the ditch and jack-knifed into the cable barrier."

Luckily for the driver of the semitruck, he is OK. As for everyone else, they experienced long wait times as emergency crews worked to clear the scene for more than three hours.

"Slow down when the roads are icy and the low visibility, when you can't see too far ahead of you, because it's hard to stop,” McClearen said.
