St. Charles Parish, LA : 34-year-old dies in a traffic wreck on west bank of St. Charles Parish on Wednesday, December 2, 2015
A 34-year-old man was killed in a traffic wreck on the west bank of St. Charles Parish Wednesday, according to Louisiana State Police.
Travis Joseph was driving a Ford Escort west on Louisiana 18 around 9:30 p.m. when he crossed into the eastbound lane near Louisiana 3142 at Taft and struck a 2002 GMC Envoy head-on, police said. The driver of the GMC Envoy, Marshall Smith, 55, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to St. Charles General Hospital. The passenger in Joseph's car, Cortney Madere, 27, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Joseph was pronounced dead on the scene.
Troopers suspect that Joseph was impaired at the time of the crash and a toxicology test is pending an autopsy.
