Phoenix,AZ : Jon Wilhite, sole survivor of crash that killed 3, warns high schoolers at mock DUI program of danger on may, Tuesday 23th 2017

More than eight years have passed since the drunken driving crash that killed Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart and two friends, but Jon Wilhite, the sole survivor in their vehicle, still could not stand to witness a mock DUI accident.

Wilhite waited at a distance this week as firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate a bloody passenger from a car and victims were wheeled off and driven away by ambulances. As one red balloon was released to the sky for each of the three teenagers pronounced dead in the re-enactment of a fatal morning-after-prom crash, it was the cue for Wilhite to speak for the first time at such an event.

“To you guys, this seems like a bad dream,” said the Manhattan Beach resident, choking back tears before 1,500 students at Trabuco Hills High School in Orange County. “But to my family, the Pearsons, Stewarts and Adenharts, this is our reality.”
