Semi truck crash on Route 159 in Illinois

Illinois State Police are investigating a fatal wreck Wednesday night in Madison County.

The crash involved a semi truck and a car about 6:30 p.m. on Illinois 159 near Seiler Road between Bethalto and Bunker Hill, according to news reports.

The deceased was so badly burned in the crash that dental records will be necessary to identify him or her, said Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn.

An autopsy will be performed before noon Thursday, Nonn said.

Illinois 159 was closed in both directions while crews cleared the crash scene.
