Livingston,NY : Man charged in hit-and-run crash that killed dad, hurt son on August, Monday 21st 2017

State police say they’ve charged a man in connection with the death of an upstate New York man in a hit-and-run accident.

Troopers say 30-year-old Gemeal Wallace Sr. and his 14-year-old son were struck Monday evening on Old Route 17 in the Sullivan County hamlet of Livingston Manor, 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of New York City.

The elder Wallace, who lived near the accident scene, was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. His son suffered minor injuries.

Troopers later identified 33-year-old Ray Salonich, of nearby Lew Beach, as the driver of the pickup truck that hit the Wallaces. Salonich was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

He’s being held in the county jail without bail. It couldn’t be determined from authorities if he has a lawyer.
