Roseburg ,oR : Two people killed and two others injured after double-fatal crash along Oregon 138 on Sunday afternoon ,April 12th 2015
A Bend man rafting on the North Umpqua River on Sunday afternoon spotted a white Honda Accord that had crashed down an embankment off Oregon 138.
Lt. Josh Brooks, an Oregon State Police spokesman, said the rafter went to the car and found two people dead and two people injured inside the car, which was wedged against a group of trees. The survivors included a 3-year-old boy. The car was found down a steep embankment where Oregon 138 intersects with Steamboat Creek Road.
Brooks said the 36-year-old rafter discovered the bodies at about 1 p.m. Sunday. They were identified as the car's driver, 25-year-old Christopher L. Brady of Roseburg, and its front-seat passenger, Candice M. Nixon, 34, also of Roseburg.
An adult rear-seat passenger, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was pinned inside and seriously injured. The passenger was taken by air ambulance to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield for treatment.
The 3-year-old, identified as Brady's son, was removed from the car by the rafter and only received minor injuries in the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg and later discharged.
Brooks said investigators believe the crash occurred Saturday night when the group was returning from a fishing trip.
The crash remains under investigation.
