Novi, MI : One dead in crashes on southbound Interstate 275 north of Eight Mile on Monday, 2nd March, 2020

At least one person is dead after a crash on southbound Interstate 275 north of Eight Mile, Michigan State Police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of a Buick was traveling south in the freeway's left lane. He drove off the roadway and on to the shoulder before striking a cable median barrier. His vehicle continued to travel along the barrier and stopped with the front end in the left lane and the rear on the shoulder.

Police said the man exited the vehicle and, about five minutes later, the driver of a Chrysler that was traveling south on I-275 in the left lane struck both the Buick and its driver. The Buick rolled over and down the freeway on its roof.

Officials said the driver of the Buick was killed instantly.

The Chrysler's driver was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition, they said.

The freeway was closed for about six hours, authorities said.
