Roserburg, OR : Truck hits and kills 50-year-old man on Interstate-5 on June 14th 2014
A man was hit and killed by a commercial truck Saturday afternoon while walking on the northbound shoulder of I-5 in Roseburg, Oregon State Police said.
Troopers at the scene said the 50-year-old man walked out onto the freeway in front of a northbound semi-truck just after 2 p.m. Saturday near the Stewart Parkway overpass (about milepost 125) in Roseburg.
Medical responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. Officials will release his name after his family is notified.
State Police officials said the man had a history of mental illness.
Sergeant Ken Terry said crews closed the right northbound lane of I-5 for nearly three hours while a state police team reconstructed the crash.
