BOWIE COUNTY, TX : 63-year-old dies at crash scene on Thursday, 14th March 2024

A man from Simms was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

In a release, Texas DPS said that 63-year-old Richard Edward Stahl was traveling west on FM 561 and had failed to drive safely through a curve in the roadway. His 2016 Subaru Forester exited the roadway and struck a tree. Stahl was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Hankins.
