Marcelline, IL : Lewistown man injured in motorcycle crash in rural Adams County on Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2016

A Lewistown, Mo., man was injured Sunday afternoon after police say he lost control of his motorcycle in rural Adams County.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department reported Ira P. Wenneker, 36, was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson at 5:53 p.m. near the intersection of North 2600th and East 500th, west of Marcelline, when he lost control of the motorcycle. Police said Wenneker laid the motorcycle down and was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in a ditch. He was taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy with what deputies said were major injuries

Police said Wenneker was not wearing a helmet, and there was minor damage to the motorcycle. Police said the incident is still under investigation.

Lima Fire, Mendon Rescue and the Adams County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
